After two hours of smart, and often dominate the game, but ultimately futile, Italy found the answer against England.
Sanctions.
Alexander Diamond scored the decisive kick to send to Italy on Sunday in the semifinals of the European Cup with a 4-2 win for the round after drawing 0-0 with England.
Italy next play Germany in the semifinals on Thursday in Warsaw, Poland. The defending champion Spain, Portugal will play Wednesday in Donetsk, Ukraine.
"We deserved this win," said Diamond. "The sanctions imposed on our domain during the game. So, we played a great game and fought from first to last minute."
But the sanctions Mario Balotelli, Andrea Pirlo - with an audacious chip shot lens in the center of the door - and Antonio Nocerino Blues has found the net. Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney scored England sanctions.
The difference: Ashley Young struck the crossbar with third countries of England, and Ashley Cole's attempt was saved by Gianluigi Buffon.
For England, was one of a great tournament in the quarterfinals after a penalty shootout. England lost to Portugal in the same way at Euro 2004 and World Cup 2006.
"It's obviously a hard way to go," said the English striker Wayne Rooney. "It's probably happened too many times already."
England briefly addressed the shooting, after Riccardo Montolivo second penalty miss in Italy. The range of his shot was right after England goalkeeper Joe Hart guessed.
Rooney sends Buffon the wrong way, firing his kick to the right of goalkeeper to give England a 2-1 lead.
The momentum changed after Pirlo audacious piece of skill level 2-2.
"I just saw the goalkeeper moved a little" before, so I decided to play another way, "said Pirlo." It's just that at this time and has gone well. "
"We have made the country feel proud, but once again we return home with a broken heart and hard to take," said Gerrard, who played in the previous shootout loss.
The game ended 0-0 after 120 minutes. Italians crash the post twice, but were disappointed by the lack of composure in front of the net.
Diamonds cut to stick with a curling cross in 101 minutes, and dragged her to a field along the clearest chance of the second period of extra time.
Nocerino, another substitute, thought he had scored in a cross of diamonds 115, but offside.
Daniele De Rossi gave the stick to three minutes, and Buffon saved a shot from Glen Johnson in the fifth.
The first game without goals Euro 2012 was neither deaf nor lack of good football.
