A week after winning for the third time this season, Tiger Woods gets a rare weekend off.
Woods did not pass the cut on the Greenbrier Classic by a stroke on Friday, after the opening "71-69 seems to end the night.
He lost a court for the ninth time in his career on the PGA Tour, and third time in a tournament after a victory.
After winning the Congress on Sunday, Woods was in the way he had never seen before.
"I did not quite have it,'' Woods said." I have driven very well today and I had the feeling of distance. The ball went forever. I know that we share, but I could not get the pin hit the ball high, no matter what I did, and then I make some bogeys.''
Phil Mickelson also to advance to weekend play, the first time Woods and Mickelson did not pass the cut in the same tournament as a professional.
Mickelson shot his second 71.
U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson at the top of the table at 9 as the game was suspended due to darkness in the round that was delayed due to rain.
Simpson made a birdie putt from 6 feet on the par 3 18 to 4-in-66.
A dozen players were unable to complete the round.
Woods believes that his remote control will be easier to work on the book at the British Open, which begins July 19 at Royal Lytham and St Annes.
"Yes, because it is hot and we have no intention of living up. We will be on the beach,'' he said.
After the rain delay, Woods had bogeys on 10 and 11 numbers up to 3 times, then made three birdies in the final, but lost two more attempts from inside 12 feet.
Other times after a win that Woods missed a cut in 2005 came to Disney in 2009 and the British Open. Both of those times had a week off after his victories.
When Woods was an amateur, he and Mickelson did not pass the cut at Byron Nelson 1993.
Mickelson had focused more on the golf tournament this year, after taking advantage of numerous services to the town with his family last year. The result was the same.
"I love the golf course,'' he said." I do not understand. I mean, I certainly struggled a little green 'in two years, but nothing that should have led to these results.''
Was seven consecutive rounds of par, and hopes that his game improved.
"Of course I'm waiting for links golf,'' Mickelson said." I like to play ball and hit the ground - you know, trying to keep below the head of some tees and so on. "It was fun last year when we had some terrible times. And, hopefully, play one of my strengths, which is the short game, and try to get the clear voice in the UK'' .
