Jason Kidd agrees to deal with Knicks

Written By Unknown on Thursday, 5 July 2012 | 21:21

Changing less than 24 hours after seeing Steve Nash accepted a signed agreement and exchange with the Lakers, the Knicks reached an agreement Thursday with Kidd, according to reports.

ESPN reported the deal is in the vicinity of three years, provided $ 9 million that many thought the 10 times All-Star owner apparently agreed once again that the search for Dallas Mavericks Deron Williams have failed.

"I think I can help," Kidd told ESPN, adding that he believes the Knicks are more "pieces of work."
Kidd, 39, immediately gives the Knicks a solid option at point guard after a failed attempt to acquire Nash.

He is a veteran leader and has already won a championship with the Knicks, the center Tyson Chandler in 2010-11, when both played for the Mavericks.

Kidd could be just what the Knicks need to supplement their Big Three of Carmelo Anthony, Amare Stoudemire and Chandler. To demand the respect of his teammates and is known to have a special ability to get everyone involved. This will help the Knicks ball moving and keep everyone standing around and looking from one to Anthony.

Now the Knicks would re-sign Jeremy Lin and Kidd - a former network, the family still lives in New Jersey - his mentor.

Lin and rockets reportedly reached an agreement on a three-year offer sheet with a team option for the fourth consecutive year on Thursday.

Lin would have won $ 5 million the first year, $ 5.2 million in the second and $ 9.3 million in each of the last two seasons. As a restricted free agent, the Knicks have the right to match.

In a perfect scenario, the Knicks probably would prefer acquiring Kidd in a sign-and-trade with Dallas to use its mini-mid-level exception free agents from other possible targets, such as Marcus Camby and Rashard Lewis.

Although treatment of Kidd will not be official until Wednesday, when the moratorium is lifted transactions NBA players, it is surprising reverse of fortune for the Knicks.

Not long after Nash refused the Knicks and the Raptors, the Mavericks - who offered him a three-year contract worth $ 36 million - and decided to accept less money to chase a championship with the Lakers and being more close to their three children.

After Nash took this decision, the Knicks increased research Kidd, the former Knick and Raymond Felton.

The indications were later the Knicks on Wednesday that Kidd was still a possibility, but one report said the Dallas Mavericks were nearing an agreement to re-sign after losing Nash and Williams.

Kidd, who went to the NBA Finals twice during his seven-year season with the Nets, has spent the last five seasons with the Mavericks, winning their first NBA title.

However, he sent some of his worst numbers last season as a pro, averaging 06/02 points, 5.5 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 28.7 minutes, all the vicissitudes of his career. In his career, he averaged 13.0 points, 9.0 assists and 6.4 rebounds.
