An area with limited options for Wizards has become one of the lists after deeper forward Martell Webster finally signed a one-year contract with the team Wednesday.

The Wizards reached an agreement with Webster last week, but needed a few days to get the documents together in a contract worth $ 1.6 million, according to league sources.

"Hammer offers a combination of versatility and shot over their experience," said Wizards President Ernie Grünfeld in a statement. "Adding to the list he gives us another solid veteran presence and gives us the flexibility of our teams in both the position of guard and small forward positions."

Webster, a career 37.4 percent three-point shooter in seven seasons with Portland and Minnesota added another perimeter threat for a team that finished 28 th in three-point shooting percentage last season.

The former sixth selection in 2005 NBA draft, Webster gives another option in the Wizards small forward after the trade of Trevor Ariza and re-signed Cartier Martin.

Chris Singleton started in 57 games as rookie small forward position last season, mostly by default. Rashard Lewis has been injured or ineffective for most of the season and Martin did not join the team until the end of March. The 6-foot-7 Webster also can slide and play escort Randy Wittman providing more versatility and veteran experience to the wing.

Webster has averages of 8.4 points and 3.1 rebounds and has a reputation as a decent defender. Averaged 6.9 points and 3.6 rebounds in 47 games last season, but two back surgeries before the season has helped his career shooting under 33.9 percent from long distance.

The Timberwolves Webster bought for $ 600,000 last month rather than pay him the $ 5.7 million that would have won, making him a free agent. To beat the Wizards for a workout last week at Verizon Center and came to an agreement soon.

The Wizards now have 14 players under contract with a view to training camp, which begins on October 2 at George Mason University.
